O R D E R
1 Delay condoned in filing the Contempt Petitions.
2 The review petition which was filed by the Union of India, Review Petition (Civil) Diary No 24345 of 2021 in Miscellaneous Application No 1143 of 2021 in Contempt Petition (C) Nos 405-407 of 2019 in Civil Appeal Nos 11948-11950 of 2016 [Amit Khare v Sudhanshu Ranjan], was dismissed by an order dated 27 January 2022.
2 Mr Vikramjit Banerjee, Additional Solicitor General appearing on behalf of the SIGN Union of India, submits that, in view of the above position, the persons who were parties to the proceedings before this Court will be given their arrears on the same footing as Mr Sudhanshu Ranjan, to whom arrears have been paid in pursuance of the order passed in contempt proceedings.
3 The arrears to the above set of persons shall be released on or before 15 March 2022.
4 The benefits due to persons who were not parties to or intervenors in the proceedings which culminated in the judgment dated 26 September 2018, shall become payable on and from the judgment dated 26 September 2018. This direction shall be given effect to without waiting for other persons similarly situated to move this Court either in Miscellaneous Applications or contempt proceedings. The judgment of this Court was in relation to TV News Correspondents (TVNCs) and TV Assistant News Correspondents (TVANCs). Mr Vikramjit Banerjee states that the benefit would be extended to TV Assistant News Editors (TVANEs) who are similarly circumstanced. The benefit shall be disbursed by 30 June 2022.
5 The Miscellaneous Applications and the Contempt Petitions are accordingly disposed of.
6 Pending applications are accordingly disposed of.
